Lindsey Raines passed away in 2006 after experiencing a sudden brain aneurism. She was just 19 years old. A 2004 graduate of Greenbrier West High School, Lindsey was attending Mountain State University at that time. She was also working part-time at the Harley-Davidson motorcycle shop in Hico, WV, and loved riding her motorcycle in her free time.
After her passing, a group of her friends wanted to hold a memorial run. Consequently, her father Paul Raines decided to use this opportunity to create an event that would help local students. Since that time, hundred of riders gather each year for a Poker Run to raise money for the Lindsey Raines Memorial Scholarship. Riders from all over the area participate.
To date, over $148,000 has been awarded toward college tuition to deserving students.
